Practical everyday abilities and increased independence.

Developing self-care, personal organization, daily routines, community navigation, and functional communication through systematic teaching, individualized prompting, and practice in natural environments.

Community navigation, purchasing skills, transportation readiness, social participation, and recreational activities. Building confidence and independence through individualized community-based experiences.

06

Social & Communication Skills

Functional communication, relationships, and self-advocacy.

Meaningful communication and social participation skills emphasizing authentic connection, individual autonomy, and practical application, rather than rigid social scripts or conformity to arbitrary expectations.

Practical strategies for families, caregivers, and support professionals, including behavioral functions, individualized support plans, functional communication, and skill generalization across everyday routines.

Workplace communication, task completion, following routines, problem-solving, teamwork, and navigating everyday responsibilities. Through real-world learning opportunities, participants explore interests and develop skills aligned with personal goals.

Community in Action

Real spaces.
Real experiences.
Real possibilities.

At Life Lab, meaningful learning extends into the community. Through thoughtfully designed experiences, individuals develop communication, independence, teamwork, and practical skills in real-world environments.

One example is our collaboration with Shoebox Coffee, an independently operated coffee business where Life Lab participants can engage in structured learning experiences involving customer service, workplace routines, collaboration, and everyday responsibilities.
